Filing your tax return is far less daunting with proper guidance. NeoFidu's online form adapts to your situation: you only see the questions that apply to you, and every box you tick tells you which document to attach. Here is how to complete it, step by step.

Step 1: canton and residence
First, indicate the canton where your return must be filed, then whether you live in Switzerland or abroad. If you live outside Switzerland but own property or earn Swiss-source income, you specify it here. People taxed at source who want ordinary taxation (TOU) or quasi-resident status can contact us for a tailored quote.

Step 2: your tax credentials (by canton)
The form asks for the credentials on your tax authority's letter: taxpayer number and control code. A “Where to find this number?” tooltip shows you exactly where to look. These fields vary by canton: Fribourg also requires a chapter number, Valais a 10-character VSTax password, Geneva a declaration code. No worries: only the fields relevant to your canton appear.

Step 3: marital status and identity
State whether you are single or in a couple, then complete your identity (and your spouse's if applicable): date of birth, AVS number, religion, address as of 31 December. This information drives your tax scale and social deductions.
Step 4: work situation and commuting
Your employment status and activity rate help maximise your work-related deductions. For each employer, enter the workplace, the number of days and the distance travelled: the form calculates your travel and meal costs. If you use a car, a justification is required (no public transport, irregular hours, carrying equipment…), as the authorities demand it.
Step 5: income and deductions
Simply tick what applies to you: 3rd pillar, childcare costs, donations, alimony, debts, securities… For each box, the form reminds you which document to provide, so nothing is missing. This is the step that lowers your tax, so take your time. Need an estimate? Our free calculators give you a ballpark figure in seconds.

Step 6: real estate
If you are an owner, add each property: tax value, rental value, mortgage, rent collected. For maintenance, you choose between the flat rate (10% of the rental value for a property under 10 years old, 20% beyond) and your actual costs: always keep the more favourable option. Tenants in the cantons of Neuchâtel, Fribourg and Jura must also provide their landlord's identity.
Step 7: documents and submission
Upload your files by simple drag and drop (copies, not originals). A green check confirms each document received. All that is left is to certify the accuracy of the information and submit. Before finalising, a summary shows the details of your request and the price (incl. VAT); payment is made online securely (SSL), and your documents are transmitted automatically once the payment is confirmed. You then receive a receipt by email.
